Training on the Upper West Side

The Upper West Side runs along Central Park's western border from Columbus Circle up to 110th Street, anchored by the cultural institutions at Lincoln Center and the American Museum of Natural History. It has a distinctly intellectual, family-oriented character with brownstone-lined streets and a strong community feel. Riverside Park provides a scenic waterfront alternative to Central Park for outdoor workouts. With Columbia University and Fordham's Lincoln Center campus nearby, the neighborhood supports a mix of academic professionals and media industry workers from ABC, CNN, and nearby Midtown offices.

Training Options

  • Riverside Park (72nd Street entrance)
  • Central Park West fields
  • YMCA West Side
  • Equinox Columbus Circle

The Upper West Side draws academics, artists, media professionals, and families. Clients here tend to be well-informed about health and wellness, often seeking evidence-based training programs that emphasize longevity and functional movement. Many UWS clients are in their 35-to-55 age range and prefer weekend or early-morning sessions that leave evenings free for family time.

Availability varies by facility. Check the venue's guest trainer policy and contact Trevor Cassidy about your preferred location.

Personal Training FAQ on the Upper West Side

Where do you train clients on the Upper West Side?
I train UWS clients in 3 main settings: their homes, Riverside Park along the Hudson waterfront, and on the western fields of Central Park. About half of my UWS clients rotate between indoor and outdoor venues depending on weather and workout focus.
Do you work with families on the Upper West Side?
Yes, the UWS is one of my most family-oriented areas. I offer sessions for couples, parent-child fitness programs, and programming for teens aged 13 and up preparing for high school or college athletics. Several of my UWS clients train alongside a family member.
How do you handle bad weather for outdoor sessions?
We switch to an in-home session or a nearby gym — no session is ever lost to weather. I monitor forecasts the night before and text you by 7 AM if a location change is needed. It is rare that a scheduled outdoor session requires a last-minute venue change.
